Women teachers in Kenya will get over 10,000 high-capacity water tanks. This will be made possible by KEWOTA, a Kenyan welfare association for women teachers. KEWOTA has partnered with the largest water tanks manufacturer in the country, who will distribute, deliver, and install the water tanks. With Family Bank Queens banking department on board, women teachers can pay monthly installments while they enjoy the tanks and also earn income. The program was launched today, (Tuesday 23rd January ) at KENTANK headquarters, by top executives from KEWOTA, Kentank, and Family Bank. This project is aimed to fuel welfare support and economic growth for women teachers.
KEWOTA is a renowned and sought-after organization in Kenya’s education sector. Here is why: KEWOTA, is a unique and impactful organization. It is a vibrant association of women working in the education sector in Kenya. The association’s central focus is welfare support and directly improving the living standards of women teachers, both in school and at home. KEWOTA has an array of services and programs for female teachers, and the organization has done a remarkable job in changing the living standards of women teachers in Kenya. From addressing school fees expenses and providing sponsorships to constructing homes for widowed women teachers, digital tutoring for supplementary income, medical coverage for retired teachers, and implementing policies such as maternal health and breastfeeding centers, KEWOTA consistently endeavors to positively impact the lives of women educators. The association continually advocates and initiates programs, services, and products directly benefiting women teachers, presenting them with a buffet of opportunities aligned with their personal goals.
Today the country witnessed a one-of-a-kind and impact-inspired program launch. Women teachers, (Members of KEWOTA), are now set to receive over 10,000 high-capacity water tanks. The tanks are of high quality and manufactured by the best manufacturer in Kenya, KENTANK. Pricing will be very low if bought through KEWOTA. Thanks to Family Bank, women teachers can even pay in installments for a long period without worrying about fees and high interest. The KEWOTA CEO confirmed that the 10,000 is a target for just this year, based on research. This project was launched today at the KENTANK factory and HQ in Nairobi Gate Industrial Park, by KEWOTA, KENTANK, and Family Bank top executives.
KEWOTA does not just do its projects based on ideas only. The Kenya Women Teachers Association CEO has invested in a team of highly skilled and experienced technical experts, who first go to the ground, observe, listen, and note down challenges faced by women teachers all over the country. The team then embarks on deep and highly focused research to ascertain how these challenges affect the welfare and productivity of the teachers. Careful thought and data-driven strategies are used to come up with the very best way to solve these challenges, and that is how various KEWOTA programs are born. A lot of background work is put in to make sure the programs launched will have an impact on the teacher and their families, the community, schools and students, and the education sector.
In the case of the water tank projects, the technical team reports that access to clean water is still a challenge for many households. In this case for women teachers, it affects their welfare and productivity which in turn affects the output and quality of education. As witnessed by the researchers, some women teachers have to wake up as early as 4 am and go long distances to fetch water. This highly affects their attendance and productivity, their health and welfare, and security. KEWOTA is seeking to solve this through the tank project.
The KEWOTA water tank project comes as a lifesaver and opportunity for families of women teachers who can now get the tanks which will be delivered up to their homes, and installation done for no extra charge. The water tanks are high-capacity and can store water for long periods. This water can be utilized for personal use, agricultural use, and even for re-selling water for additional income. Schools in need of the tanks are also encouraged to apply through the members of KEWOTA in their schools/localities.
