KEWOTA CEO Joins UN Women Leadership Meeting to Champion Women’s Empowerment

On July 15, 2024, Benter Opande, CEO of the Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA), participated in a high-profile leadership meeting organized by UN Women. The event, titled “Women in Leadership and Decision Making Gender Sector Working Group,” was held at the Kyaka Hotel in Machakos.

The meeting gathered notable leaders from various organizations, including the Council of Governors-Kenya (COG), UN Women, Echo News Network, and lawyer Daisy Amdany. The gathering aimed to provide a platform for sharing experiences and insights among women leaders.

Opande expressed her gratitude to UN Women Africa for organizing the event, highlighting its importance in fostering shared learning and collaboration among women leaders. She emphasized the role of KEWOTA in nurturing women leaders in the education sector and discussed the association’s initiatives to uplift women’s lives in education and address gender-based violence (GBV) issues.
