A Prosperous Start: KEWOTA Nakuru Chapter Ushers in 2024 with Table Banking Triumphs

In a significant stride towards financial empowerment, women teachers affiliated with the Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) in the Nakuru chapter are now reaping the benefits of the organization’s table banking program. The latest success was celebrated during the chapter’s first table banking meeting of the year, held on Saturday, January 6th, at Chambers Resort in Nakuru.

During the meeting, members engaged in constructive discussions about their chapter’s plans for the upcoming year and actively participated in the table banking initiative. Dr. Elizabeth Koimet, a distinguished member, was the first woman teacher to receive funding through the table banking program for the year. Dr. Koimet expressed her intention to utilize the funds to enhance her Rehabilitation Center in Kahawa Sukari, Nairobi, showcasing the tangible impact of KEWOTA’s support in fostering impactful initiatives among its members.

The Nakuru Chapter Coordinator, who spoke to our reporter, highlighted the substantial impact of the table banking program on women teachers in Nakuru. For Nakuru women teachers who are KEWOTA members, the funds disbursed through this initiative have been instrumental in addressing various financial needs, including the payment of school fees, medical expenses, and the support of diverse entrepreneurial ventures. Notable businesses initiated by the beneficiaries include animal feed shops, private school management, renovations, beauty parlors, jewelry ventures, and more investments by women teachers in Nakuru County.

KEWOTA’s table banking program, introduced by the organization’s leadership, stands as a pivotal tool to assist teachers in managing their finances and overcoming debt challenges. The program operates independently in county chapters, ensuring a tailored and effective approach to address the unique needs of each region.

To be eligible for participation in KEWOTA’s table banking, individuals must be registered members of the association.
