In a strategic move geared towards advancing the welfare and professional growth of women educators, the Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) convened its official year-opening meeting on January 4th. Led by the distinguished executives Madam Modesta (Chairperson), Madam Jacinta (National Treasurer), and Madam Benter (CEO), the team gathered to reflect on the triumphs and challenges of the previous year, and outlined a visionary roadmap for the organization in the upcoming year.
The KEWOTA secretariat is a team of specially skilled technical experts overseeing the meticulous implementation of the organization’s programs. The team, comprising research and economic experts, data managers, digital strategists, insurance and finance professionals, human resources specialists, and marketing professionals among others, is the team responsible for the strategic and systematic implementation of KEWOTA programs. The secretariat works under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer.
A key highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of an ambitious plan that centers on expanding projects aimed at enhancing the living standards of teachers. The secretariat also announced plans to introduce new programs tailored to address specific challenges faced by women teachers in Kenya. As reported by the executive administrative officer, the secretariat is gearing up for an industrious year, marked by an array of personal development opportunities for women teachers, increased onboarding of retirees, and a concerted effort to enhance the living standards of teachers associated with KEWOTA. The meeting emphasized the commitment to scaling projects that have proven effective in elevating the lives of teachers while embracing innovation to address emerging challenges. The organization will also be onboarding more partners and stakeholders, to expand its resources to offer boundless development opportunities for women teachers in Kenya.
